mods needed to create torque

So say you have 100 hp. At 5,252 RPM then you will have 100 ft/lb.??
So what if you relatively rev it up to 10,504 rpm's, you will have 50 ft/lb??
So does that mean if you keep it at a constant 2,626 rpm you will have 200 lb/ft.??
Please enlighten me.

at 2626 you're making 50hp
at 5252 you're making 100hp
at 10504 you're making 200hp
this is why the renesis is so cool, because you can advertise 250hp, like a decent V6 would make, but the v6 would probably make it 2-3K rpm sooner, you just kinda neglect to mention that.
and remember, you buy horsepower but drive torque!
But wait - there's more --
Almost all piston engines make that big torque in a comparatively narrow 3K to 4K RPM band, then it falls off.
With less than $1000 in mods, a rotary will deliver almost peak torque from 4K to almost 8K RPM.

Torque is what you feel. HP is what actually is. A car with less torque but higher HP will not feel as strong as a car with higher torque but less HP will feel stronger. The catch here is that since you have less rpm's in a higher torque engine, you can't stay in a lower gear as long. That is why high torque cars pull harder off the line, but the high HP car will win in the long haul. If you never get out of 1st gear, then the high torque car will win.

Yea - piston motors are getting more sophisticated with quad valves & variable cam timing etc.
Buckets full of more moving parts to do what a rotary does with three.
(Five if you count the aux port sleeves.)

Hey Bruce, Truth is you have an N/A and an Rx7 these both pretty much amount to little torque, now this really isint all that bad i mean think about how fun it is to be able to play with your whole rpm range, i mean these cars redline at 7k no problem. Id say try to get out of the domestic frame of mind and get into the rotary frame of mind

Same with backpressure. Low end NEEDS backpressure to help suck the exhaust gasses out... there's a very large subject concerning exhaust pulses and how they help draw out the gasses, but we won't get into that.

I have RB header and presilecer, custom made 2.5" mandrel bent pipe into a Dynomax UltraFlo muffler.
After I did this I noticed the aux ports were not working. I played and fiddled but couldn't get them to work. One day I was trying to see if mabey the tube was clogged. I couldn't tell what I was feeling on my finger until I got a peice of paper.
SUCTION! all the way until 5000 rmp there was suction. I tryed on the large opening on the pipe that is supposed to go somewhere( i have it blocked). the one the actuator tube tees from. it had more suction.
I guess it was dumb luck. but when I wire open the ports, after 4500 RPM there is a real power band. In another post though I am bitching about how it robbed me of my low and mid power. I am making some changes until I can get different daily driver. My real daily went out on me.

Well... you could pull the engine apart and replace the rotors with a set made from solid uranium,,,, that would give you some low end torque..... whould pretty much kill everything else!!!!!
no matter what you do, the rotary will never have a lot of torque. Piston engines feel like they have more torque (well, usually they do), because they hit a big peak so it's really obvious. But riding a piston engine to redline doesn't fell very good. My Rx-7 pulls stronger and stronger to redline, so it's fun.
