Mmmkay, wtf. Won't start.

OK, this is annoying...

After working on it for two days straight my car won't start.

It's getting spark, fuel, and air, so why the hell isn't it starting?

It's *never* flooded, and it didn't seem flooded either (no gas smell, besides a little bit on the plugs). Not to mention that turning it over with the gas at full throttle didn't help either.

All I did was take off and reseal the intake manifolds, reseal the OMP, and install transmisison mounts.

I did clean it off a lot, with water, though... but that would mean I have electical problems, and I don't (no codes).

S4 or S5?

Pull the EGI fuse and crank it to see if its flooded.. can't hurt.

Double check everything you touched, connectors, vac lines etc

I've gotta recharge the battery first... It's an S5 and I already tried unflooding it, including turning it over with the plugs out.

For some reason, the AFM is making a clacking noise while starting... That might be normal though.

Even if it had vacuum leaks it would at least start up... it just wouldn't run for long.

nm...charged it and it still wouldn't crank after trying to deflood it.

I went through hell with my crank angle sensor. I dunno if you maybe accidentally knocked it while working, but it's gotta be in the PERFECT orientation or the car won't start.

Took me about two weeks to figure it out, too.

Looks like a pretty common problem/ordeal too.

Well I didn't even touch the CAS... and it's still in the same position.

And it's getting spark too... even if the timing is off, it can make it harder to start but it won't cause to not start.

Also, I changed out my injector grommers with ones made from silicone, and they seemed to fit on the injectors a little loose, but they pushed them hard into their holes, so I think they shouldn't be leaking.

One more issue, is that it sounds different when I crank it then I used to.

I also had to bend the primary rail's fuel pipe to make a hose not get kinked (it was running fine even with the kink though)... but that shouldn't be a big deal.

What the hell... I tried starter fluid straigh into the TB and it wouldn't even TRY to start, despite the fact that the spark plugs are firing.

Man, I don't want to drive a van back to school...

Test your coil packs to make sure they are good. Or if you can, use someone elses.

I bit the bullet and took the manifold off again to check it out under there again... didn't see anything wrong, except it being a lot dirtier than it should have been (so I cleaned out the throttle body and plenum, since there was a lot of gunk that might have caused idle issues, or could have gotten into the engine)... even after I put it back on, it didn't get much better (still wouldn't start).

But, I hooked up the jumper cables to my dad's car to GUARANTEE a strong start, and after a bit of cranking, I got it to finally cough a bit... so I cranked it a bunch more and I finally got it running. I did have to crank the crap out of it (just like a year ago when I first got it running)... and I had to modulate the throttle a bunch to clear it's throat, but while also trying not to activate the fuel cut (which didn't really seem to work anyway).

Anyway, I think maybe my oil seals are kind of iffy, since it was probably just flooded with oil after not running for a few days, because the first time I pulled my plugs, two of them were really oily... there was a bit of dark smoke when I got it cranked... and this tends to happen every once in a while when I don't drive for a few days, just never this bad.

Also, I take back getting fuel the first time, since I think my plugs were totally dry, they just smelled like the WD40 I used to clean them. I made damn sure my primaries were hooked up (they seemed to be, since it didn't give me any codes), and there was definately fuel flowing through the rails.

It idled crappy for a good while, possibly do to me causing NEW vacuum leaks (even though that's what I was trying to fix), not having time to let the RTV cure. It idles about where it did before... which is crappy, but liveable. It may have just been the ECU getting reset, cold start, and flooding.

I'm back at school again... I came within about 3 cm of having to drive a crappy van to school. Soooo glad it started...
