Missing Fan blades!!
hey yall, been a bit since i have posted. been busy with school and work and life brah brah brah... so let me get to the point..
my FC has been running like a champ so far. no complaints. however i have noticed that my car has been shaking violently when i gun it. not really the whole car but the shifter.. i figured that maybe my shift **** was not on right since its from a miata.
this was about a few weeks ago. went to school last night and noticed that the shaking was a now when i idle.. not too bad but loud enough to be noticed. i figured i would check it in the morning. so i did, this morning i go to start the beast up and i hear the snap.. car is still on, so i popped the hood and notice the engine shaking in odd directions. i looked passed the fan towards the bottom and can see a fan fin chilling at the bottom. i was running late to work so i said a lil prayer and headed out.. luckily i only had to drive 7 miles. longest 7 miles of my life.. i could tell that the engine was all off balance, but i didnt think it would be from a lil plastic fin. so when i got to work i shut the beast off and too another look.. i was not only missing 1 fin but 2 fins! did a lil poking around and notice that the pully that the fan is connected to is a bit loose. and my belts seem to be not as tight as i would think they should be. maybe i should have changed the belts when i noticed them screaming last month in the AM.
i dont want to sound like a tard cuz im clueless with rotory but my basic mechanical know how tells me that i should get the that pulley tightened and belts changed? no?
what do you all suggest?
if you guys need pics or vid i will post them after work.

it is possible that the fan blade broke off from hitting the fan shroud, meaning that something else is severely throwing the motor off balance and that was the cause for the fan failure, not the other way around. first i would check the motor mounts, then i would check your pulleys, then i would suspect something internal.. is the motor stock or rebuilt or whats the story on it?

its a stock non turbo 13b of course,i think it was rebuilt by Lucky 7 from the last owner. it has roughly 22k miles on the rebuild. im sure the fan did not cause the issues and im pretty damn sure it did hit the plastic housing that surrounds it. Internals im guessing are fine cuz its not idling bad still has its power even tho i notice it lost some cuz of this imbalance. Im almost positive its the fan pulley. i could jiggle it with my bare hand and also the belt seems to be a bit on the loose side. what should i look for if its the motor mounts? cracks?

A fan that is out of balance(missing a blade in your case) will Kill the water pump and then, either you get a Blown water pump,or WORSE,a blown engine due to a Blown water pump.
I would NOt trust that the water pump anymore.Seriously.
I would be changing Both the pump and the Clutch fan.
Remember the coolant system is what the Engine relies on.It is a necessity. If the Coolant is not Cooling the engine then Say Good Bye to your engine and Hello to walking.

to verify that it is or is not the fan/waterpump, take the belts off and start the car (preferably when it is cold) if the motor does not vibrate then it is either the Fan, Waterpump or alternator... put the belt back on, remove the fan and run it again... if it still doesnt vibrate then its your fan... if you removed all the belts and it still vibrates it could be an out of balance clutch/flywheel... or just a worn out motor

I had severe vibration at high rpm when I replaced my old stock water pump. I took it off and measured, and come to fidn out the pully boss was pressed onto the pump crooked. The pully boss was 1/32 of an inch off on one side. You could barely see it, but it was obvious when measured.
