As far as my pipe is concerned it's 6 of one 1/2 dozen of the other. Either I come from that side of the car and keep my battery etc and deal with the bend which really isnt going to create any more of a pressure drop than if I pipe it from the other side and deal with a longer pipe run, relocate battery etc etc, your just grasping at straws. But that's ok, cause I don't care, some of you are having a hard time getting that.
My coolant hoses and heater hoses are stock for whatever joker wanted a picture of mine to compare to Aaron's. I believe that same joker made reference to my stock TB adapter, it's not stock actually, it's a cnc'd piece. I posted the pic because someone said I wasnt familiar with custom fabrication.
I always find you leg humpers hillarious. I go to movies and out for dinner all the time, I'm neither an award winning director or chef, yet I feel comfortable critisizing their work, hows it any different here? It isnt, problem is so many people here have created an "internet forum" identity for themselves it really hurts them when someone challenges the "internet ego" they've developed. This forum among others is entertainment for me. If there was something good on T.V I'd be watching that instead, but I'm bored so here I am.

"Criticism" is a tool that is meant to help someone make something better. You calling Aaron's car ghetto (while you seem to imply it was so clear you were referring to the copper piping, the rest of the thread contributors, including Aaron, had no idea what you were referring to) is not criticism. It's 3rd-grade namecalling at best. Had you said "Hey Aaron, that copper piping looks kinda ghetto" I doubt ANYONE would've sad anything about it. Instead, you apparently had to fill your "internet ego" that you were talking about, by phrasing your comments like a know-it-all. Aaron's certainly not been touting his abilities, despite the fact he's obviously pretty handy with a welder, yet you apparently show off Panspeed parts as your own? So WHO is the one with the ego again?
Now I feel bad for Aaron because you totally ruined his thread. And after spending two hours putting it all together.

Lookin good to me, a little unconventional, but things aren't 'rigged' in such a way that they're durability is questionable.
TD07 is just trolling, ignore and move on.

I for one do not believe Panspeed would make something so...horrible. If they did, I'm sorry, but I would NEVER have them make parts for my car, custom.
Now, its odd...you seem to have a mess of wires and vacuum lines there. There seems to be a "loop" of that blue wire there, you need to wrap that, cut it down to size, and make it suiting for the internet NOW. There is NO WAY you were half-way done the project, and planning on fixing it up later. Obviously since you posted pics, you are DONE with all the wiring...and your car is ghetto.

HVAC? That has what to do with our application? Good try though.

The bend is too tight for mandrel bending.
There is more than a few TB adapters out there that allow for the IC piping to be this way. RE has one as well, their design has the pipe come in straight and the TB adapter has the inlet on top, it's been done plenty with fine results.
People said I had no experience with custom fab work, I posted a quick photo showing some on my car, albiet not my own work in that particular case.

OK people, I think enough is enough. I've been trying to balance this being my thread with my responsibility as a moderator and I hope that I've done a decent job. I try to give everyone's "show off" threads a little leeway but when it starts to turn into a flame war I have to step in.

I really don't know. The can says that it's good to around 300 degrees so it should hold up fine. The only issue is that on smooth surfaces it's a little thin and can be scratched off easily. If it doesn't last, then it's not the end of the world. I'm going to heat wrap the turbo and downpipe soon to try and keep heat off the lower intake and injectors. Already thinking of a new intake design which will be 100% better and move the injectors out of the exhaust heat...

The nice thing about Aaron's car is he knows exactly the attention to detail that has gone into all of his own custom fabricated parts. And I hate to sound like a fanboy, but some of his welding is better than what I've seen on professional parts, like my Apexi exhaust.
I wasn't so hot on the hard pipe idea, especially the heater piping, but it's an interesting idea, and you've got sound reasoning behind it. I wouldn't have thought of that. I always like it when people generate new ideas and bring them into an environment in which they can test it out.

I'm not the first to do solid rad hoses. It's something you'll find a lot at the track and on some street cars.
As for welding, mine has improved greatly over the past few years but in some ways I'm equipment limited. There may be one week where I weld every day, but then another 3 months where I don't touch a welder so it's uneconomical to keep things like gas cylinders (which must be rented or purchased....if purchased there are regular inspections and certifications...) around. So it's basically stick or flux core until I start doing enough to justify an investment in a TIG...

I found the exhaust work particularly inspirational. This is something I need to look seriously at for the near future as my 10+yo rear mufflers appear to have lost all their internal packing and need replacing. I'm sure the exhasut was much quieter when I bought the car, but it was professionally measured at 108dBA recently (the limit is 90), so it's just a matter of time before I'm forced to do this. I figure I might just rebuild the whole thing very similar to what you've done, with an extra 3" muffler in the middle. I think I'll stick with my single 4" tips though...

i love the progress your making....that intake manifold looks awsome and so does the solid hoses....i would paint the copper hose though only because it kinda sticks out from everything else but i think it would also look really nice if you polish it up.. i think its a good idea and i will do it on my 7 when i have the time because then you dont have to worry about blowin a hose out too....over all i love your engine bay and i must say it looks very unique and different and to me thats what looks good...something that not everybody else has on there car...nice work and i cant wait to see the finished product!

the reason aarons car looks ghetto is cause everythings painted the same red and you find yourself without a visual focus.
http://www.aaroncake.net/misc/rebuil...talled%201.jpg
that and the 2 screw type hose clamps holding the brake master cylinder together....
functionally it looks ok.

Aaron, nice work on the car and thanks for taking the time to post the pictures and information about it. I do look forward to threads about what people are doing to their cars, especially with pictures. I'm sorry you've had to deal with so many negative posters wasting everyone's time.

"Ghetto Rigged" is a 1981 Civic Sedan, driving in the strongest rain I ever saw, with a shoestring out each window tied to the Windshield wipers, the driver and passenger holding the other end of each and playing a perverbial "tug of war" to keep the driver's line of sight....... That's ghetto..

I'm a bit worried abou the loudness of my setup. The original plan, as you are considering, was to use a 3" inlet muffler with 2 2.5" outlets in place of the Y pipe. It would probably quiet it down many levels. The concern was finding a muffler that could directly stand up to the heat output of the downpipe without needing to be replaced every year. And I was also worried a little bit about restricting the exhaust at such an important point.

At this point I'm ready to to a complete copper car, just to **** people off. Copper rad hoses, copper intercooler piping, etc.

Additionally, it is very difficult to take pictures of the colours I chose because they have so much depth that the camera cannot capture. Couple that with poor lighting (it's a garage, after all) and things kind of bleed together. The entire engine is done in alternating black and crimson, which is the colour scheme for the entire car. The main issue is that the camera can't capture it properly so in the pictures it just looks alright...In the sun it's breathtaking and matches the rest of the car perfectly.

Just ignore them and keep posting pictures. I admit I thought you did shady work before (like your turbocharger write-up), now I must say you rock.
Good luck.
