Miata tranny in a FC?

I think i read a thread a long time ago about a miata tranny being stuffed into an fc. I'm not sure if it was on this site or another site dedicated to fc's, but im pretty sure i read something on this type of a tranny swap. If anybody knows where the thread is or has any information on the advantages of doing this, please post a response.

thanks, matt

YOu can also use a torsen diff from one in an NA. but you have to use the original Diff housing from your FC.

There should be a link to that thread in my sig. The swap is fairly easy, in a nutshell; just take the gears out of the Miata case (ditto for the FC case), have the imput shaft re-splined by a good machine shop, and pop the Miata gearset into the FC case.

The shorter gear ratios will be good for road course racing/HPDE/track days/etc, but not so good for drag racing due to the tall first gear. (First is taller 2-5 are shorter)

A tall first gear is a good thing if you have a lot of power...

Or at least it is in GT4
