i JUST installed it yesterday.. the throw is significantly shorter and much harder to shift. im not sure yet whether or not i like it yet, becuase the bushings and everything have not had the chance to be broken in yet. If its still really hard to shift in a few weeks, i might switch back to stock. IMO its not THAT great but its kinda cool...

try adding some gear oil to the bushings if it is stiff, also you can try sanding down the wide seating faces of the bushings so it is not sandwiched as much. the miata shifters are an acquired taste, i didn't much like mine but it grew on me and after feeling the stock shifter after being used to the short throw i don't think i could ever go back.

you can always add the extension piece if you haven't already, it still provides a much shorter throw than stock yet retains the much less stiff shift/notchy feeling.

also if it is still stiff then cant you remove the metal spacer on the lower bushing? that might loosen it up a it

You won't get rid of that knotch-feel though, it's like trying to get rid of the stiff ride after lowering the vehicle.....
