i think those thing totally eliminate the bushing right?

Well, I guess I'll just have to build my own then. I've been thinking about it for some time now. Totally eliminates the stock bushings...

I have not looked in detail at the B&M unit, since the only pictures I have seen are online. I would think that it can be retrofitted, but without physically being able to mess with it, I can only guess.

I currently have a design of an FC bushingless shifter in prototype, and it is TIGHT. Ever driven a Ferarri and felt their gated shifters? This feels better.

mr fuzzy your avatar is making me crave some sushi ..

and i think this is a great thread ... i want a short shifter, and this budget is right up my alley ...

so all i need is
1 the ebay shifter
2 new set of bushings (even though mine are fine, they are so cheap i might as well change them out)
3 and a shift **** to screw on? earlier in the thread it mentions that you had to buy a new **** ... how much did that cost and where did you get it from ?

I HATE short shifters, but I hate sloppy shifters even more. If it eliminates that problem, I'll buy it and make it slightly longer.
I got the Mazdatrix SS in my vert. The shift makes me feel like I am playing a video game. Its short and no slop at all. Once you get used to the feel it works out great. I dont like the sloppy feel or the long throws anymore. Its nice and precise, but $200 was pretty steep. I had to buy bushings anyway so I opted for the SS.

Too bad, don't know what you're missing.

heh, i'm sure a Ferrari conventional shifter is awesome, but never tried one out (lol, i wish!).
best shifter i have ever felt though is the one in the Honda S2000. damn thing feels so precise and it just "clinks" into position. what a sweet 6 speed, too bad i didn't get to drive it...

anyways, it'd be awesome to see a custom-made shifter Aaron, let us know how that goes!

Karack, good job on trying this out

The shifter is going well. I broke my prototype in stress testing, and will be making a new one later this week after I pick up some more welding wire.

I just bought one off of ebay I have been looking for a while and this is definitly the way to go. Short shifters cost waay too much for the FC 2000 to 300 ***** that hehe. This is the way to go.

hehe, stress testing. for some reason i have a picture of you going crazy on the shifter with the car in park, lol!

well i guess you don't want that to break while driving, that would be scary! haha, just falls off in your hand...
