Metering Oil Pump Sytem Components?
Hi all,
I have searched the board for this and I have not found the answer...so maybe you guys can help.
What components (in a 90 GTU) are involved in the operation of the Metering Oil Pump. I have been trying to eliminate a recurring code and have not had much luck. I have replaced the ECU and MOP. It will run fine...then after it hits operating temp it will throw the code while I am at idle (the goes into limp home mode).
I can't ditch the MOP since it is the electric one, so I have to fix this bug. Maybe it's in the wiring, or a sensor, or some other component other than the ECU or MOP??
Thanks for any input.

good luck i burned 3 ecu before i was told i had to replace the omp first then the ecu .
where did you get the omp from??? the way i was told to check if omp was good was to open the ecu and look for burned marksin the system board
can you guaranty that the omp you got was good to begin with???

It has been coming up with a code 27 (i think, I am at work right now and can't check it). I can't gaurantee the MOP, I guess I can look on the ECU board, but where on the board should i look (i've never opened the ecu before so I don't know what to expect).
Thanks again.

You may want to start of by going to the free manual link from a prior reply. Look under lubrication in section D, pages 16-18. I am not an expert but my son's 90 vert had the same problem. I guessed that there must be some time delay relay in the ecu or perhaps the temp sensor delays the ecu's action in cutting rpm's to 3000 when the OMP is malfunctioning. There are two codes you can get, 20 and 27. The actual metering pump is mechanically driven. The electrical portion that may be giving you fits is the stepping motor and position sensor. The stepping motor is used to open a slide gate valve to allow more or less oil to the injector tubes/rotors. The position sensor senses the position of the valve. On the pump I had, the sensor was bad. The manual shows you how to check each one of these circuits. If the sensor is out, code 20 comes up. If the stepping motor is bad, its 27. If you have to replace the omp with another used one, be careful not to "overclean it" with degreasers, etc. I screwed one up doing that.
