Meter fuse blues
This is an 89TII
When I bought the car, it had a complete stereo system installed with a 4 channel amp and sub amp. Since day 1 there has been this whine that I can't get rid of. None of the coaxial cables are running next to the power lines, the head unit is actually installed properly too. I then found that my voltage at the battery while driving around is 13.6volts.... I thought it was supposed to be around 14.2v.
Anyways I found that if i pull the meter fuse, the voltage rises to 14.2volts so there is something in that circuit causing a problem. A wire shorted or something. So far i have disconnected the following:
Gauge cluster and switches, mirror control, fog light switch, stereo, logicon, stupid switches on the transmission....
and none of them resulted in a voltage increase. What other things are on this circuit that I need to check? Or is 13.6 decent? By the way, the 13.6 drops to 12.5 when the heater and rear defrost are on.

Connect an ammeter in place of the meter fuse set to the 20A scale...What's the reading? If you're pulling close to the fuses value, then there is something up in that circuit....
However, whining is almost always due to interference, or a bad rectifier in the alternator.
