metal pipe in rad hoses.

what do people use when you put metal pipes between the rad and engine? like when people use griffens. is that just exhuast pipe?? any one know the diameter?

i used home depot plumbing pipe. it looks ghetto thought because i still have my stock fan

i went to home depot w/ the rad hose i had
i think it was 2 and 1/4 or there abouts, not sure though
