Heres a question. why does my alarm keep going off every time i open the door? i mean its 2:00 in the morning i wanna go for a little spin and i wake up the whole neighborhood. i dont know if im just not doing something right or if the whole thing is just messed up. its an 86 GXL, if anyone has an idea of whats going on i would appreciate it.

do shut off the alarm before you get in? as in is it a keyless entry...other then that does it do it as soon as you open the door or a lil after? I doubt an 86 would have it but i know on some cars its timed...if you dont get the key in and started with in a certain amount of time the alarm will go off...(funny when an older couple's goes off...i've seen it hehe) Neways, prolly help ya more if i know some of this.

i dont have keyless entry. but when i manually unlock my door and open it, 2 seconds later the alarm will go off. i find it quite hard to get from standing outside to key in the ignition in 2 seconds. so i usually dont catch it.

im so confused. it doesnt always do this.

Smile Pos bad door switch

Try unlocking your rear hatch to turn off alarm. Then get in nrmally, if it doesn't go off you know where your problem is.

if you are unlocking with the key the stock alarm (which only honks the horn and flashes the turn signals when triggered) should disarm. Its pretty easy to see that stock light stop flashing.

I had the same problem , my alarm went off if something was opened. If the windows were down when I unlock the car or the hatch was opened. In my Fc the dash says the hatch is opened although it's closed. Make sure everything is closed before you lock the car
