megan racing gauges or prosport?

I've had 4 premium prosport gauges for about 3 years now. The only issue I had was my boost gauge read -2/3 psi in the off position with or without power. Prosport customer service explained how to adjust to zero position by adjusting a screw at the back. So far so good for me!

Is there any decent option to mount a single gauge on an S5?
The autometer pod does not work because of the auto seat belts and I don't want to block the idiot light.
Does anyone still made a pre fabbed center console or any other FC specific mount?

i'm in the same boat with you. do you have the straight threaded temp sender? i have yet to even find out wtf thread that thing is!
i have not yet wired it in, an ex-rotary mechanic (puerto rican and is building a drag rx3) said it would be okay to install the gauge in the rubber coolant line going to the cabin. just gotta find the right fittings at home depot.

I believe its the straight thread (S4). I just broke down an S5 n/a so I'll check that sensor. Either way the Prosport sensor is too large to fit in the hole much less screw in.
Currently I have the sensor in the coolant drain plug but the readings aren't accurate...may have something to do w/ the teflon tape on the sender....dunno.

Cant wire it to the stock sensor?

I recommend using our aluminum radiator hose adaptors.

the problem with using this adapter is that if the thermostat is stuck closed we would not know.
what size is the piece? i may have a second location to stick it. (heater hose going into the cabin)

Here's how I did my prosport water temp sender/probe. it's on a S5 turbo swapped vert. I'm running no emissions so I had a machine shop tap through the air pump bracket thread. I had them take some material off cause the probe didn't go very deep. I was concerned it wouldn't get good contact with the coolant.
Here is before I had material taken off. It was probably deep enough but at the time the car was a daily driver and while I had the pump off I wanted to make sure I did the job right.
Here it is after and I thought the machine shop took too much off so I had a washer or two to back it up a little bit.

I'm confused on which OEM sensor you're talking about? The sensor on my rear iron matches threads with my Prosport water temp sensor/sender/probe.
I have a S5 and am planning to mod up an electric fan control from this thread. I was able to screw in my Prosport sender/sensor/probe in my rear iron.

I'm planning to order the radiator hose adapter from Prosport and use that to house my OEM thermosensor that will control my electric fan.
One question though, does the amber illumination of your Performance, Premium, and Halo series all match? I've got Performance water and oil temp gauges. I'd like to eventually upgrade to either Premium or Halo. What with the costs of putting the engine back together I'm already spending enough on the car for now. Swapping my temp gauges will be a little later.

i have the 81-88 straight thread. i can take a picture of the prosport one next to mine to show you the difference if you'd really like...

Exactly! apparently the S4 sensor is like 2.5/16" or some other form of gayness...
I'm not going to pull my waterpump just to install a gauge sender, guess I'll just deal with the inaccurate readings in the drain plug location and keep the Palm pilot close until I have a good reason to pull the w/p

Yes, about 98%- the LED placement and # of them varies slightly between series so their is the slightest difference if you had them side by side. Practically un-noticable.

In the drain plug I see about 20* below actual (Rtek) once it gets warmed up. While its warming up however it could be off by as much as 40-50*. Now I did wrap the sender w/ teflon tape, if it needs to ground through the body of the senso this might explain the inacuracy, but I don't think it would fit snuggly w/o the tape.
Interestingly when I was on the interstate yesterday the gauge started reading accurately (as opposed to -20*) but it was only for brief periods, and it eventually went back to its old ways. Perhaps the teflon is wearing away?

Are you saying the threads are not matched so the teflon tape was keeping it tight?
It could be that with the teflon tape it is not being grounded properly. maybe the person from prosport can chime in on that note.

Trying to keep this one updated. Sharingan, any hope of seeing a write-up. I've got a spare N/A cluster and this would be a nice indoor project while it's too cold out to do any work towards my rebuild.
Did you simply remove the bulbs behind the gauges you covered and then mounted the Prosports over the OEM gauges and put the clear cover back on?
I have a S5 and would like to keep my Volt gauge visible as I've got a pretty big stereo system and modified my factory wiring and alternator.
