Dana, I know my exhaust would sound better with better mufflers, but I heard a MT true dual before, and I didnt like it either. Its hard to describe aside from comparing it to a 2 stroke. Aside from that, I have a race ported exhaust, and it REALLY makes the exhaust louder and changes the tone some. Another downside of true duals is the rpm theyre tuned for. I have yet to actually calculate it(if you will measure from the engine to the back of the can on rarestRX's car Ill tell you the exact rpm its tuned for), but the scavenging effect would be strongest around 1000-2000 rpm. The high rpm increase felt was likely due mainly to the headers. But my car needs an exhaust thats tuned for a higher rpm. And I need an exhaust that flows more than my current true dual setup.

Whoever thinks true duals are the best exhausts as far as power/flow goes, go ask some IT racers why they NEVER use a true dual exhaust.

Lee, the wheel I am using is the Sparco 383 Suede:

The diameter is 330mm...the stock FC steering wheel is 380mm. Now, if I had to do this over again...I would probably go with a 350mm wheel. The 330 is pretty small...it will cover 4 of the 6 gauges in the instrument cluster.

But...it's pretty damn nice. I haven't had any problems with the instrument obstruction because my car is an NA. I don't have to stare at gauges constantly. *grin* I just drive the hell out of it. Road race, touge sessions, whatever.

The other thing is...suede is nice for the first few weeks...then it gets nappy. I've tried brushing it, cleaning it, etc...but it just kind of gets matted and that's it. I've had my eye on this wheel:

Since it has suede on the upper and lower for the race look, but the leather where you actually put your hands. I don't know if I like the swoopy design of the wheel, reminds me of the nasty MOMO Tornado wheel:

Anyways, I do like my Sparco wheel. The small diameter kind of mellows out the somewhat twitchy overboosted feel of the stock powersteering.

About the 6 ports, I'm going to stick with the ACV and run the air pump...my car is going to retain the A/C and be somewhat comfy. I am not going to go crazy on my GTUs like Dana and Jon...rollcages...naked 13B's...etc. *grin*

well, no roll cage yet here kevin...but i do drive the car every day, to and from the office and all that (my GVR4 is getting buttoned up, fresh motor and 18G to replace the 16G). my 7 isn't that bad as a daily though, you get used to it. the seats took a week to reshape my vertabrae (it actually hurt for a few days) but the driving position is perfect and they are LIGHT!! even w/ the solid suspension it's livable on the roads around here (though I went into NYC one night which was a BAD idea... the expressway was torn up and when I finally got in I was sure I bent a wheel, all safe though hehe even the 2 degrees of negative camber up front is totally driveable (pulls a bit on really crowned roads but its not bad at all). The only thing I'd like is power windows but at least I know the base is light (kinda, I'd LOVE not to have a sunroof, they look so good without them and save all that pork). I wish I had a Cali car also, my 7 would stay so pretty!! I go to town every couple of weeks on the wheel wells, coilovers and insides of the rims...everything just gets cruddy fast bc it rains often and we have a ton of salt/sand on the ground from the rough winter. Dana, your wheel wells look great...Ive been thinking of re-spraying the undercoating back there...maybe when i get it sprayed over the summer. notice in the pic lil "Z-1" sticker by my registration... it's out shop logo, hehe I designed it www.z1auto.com enter the site and see a lil surprise I have worked up...thats right, FC and FD parts pages coming!! we are direct w/ Tein, JIC, R-Magic among others and I think we're going to be selling Aerodyne's stuff too!! oh, and i do still have the stock fan so my 13B isn't that nude - the airpump and all the rest of that plastic hit the scrap pile though...considering the weight I've added (including the wheels) I still think it weighs less than when it was new, ripped a buncha stuff out and a lotta the mods weigh a lots less. Dyno to come before the swap, I expect the standard 140-145, i'm told 850 celcius was the # to tune for on the EGT and I'm right there!!!

corbeau forza's w/ harnesses...nice seat, light and comfy yet really supportive but the brackets SUCK and it takes a bit of ingenuity to line things up well.

I'd love to be able to play around w/ you cali guys on those lovely roads (I remember the pics Kevin and Dana took a few months ago, real nice!!). I found a few roads in bayville last weekend that run along the water and get tight n' windy...I had a few nice open stretches to play around a bit but it was busy bc the weather was great. I'm not sure what freaked people out more, the trailbraking or backfiring And kevin, my car doesn't backfire on every high rpm decel either...I removed the airpump and blocked off the ACV but I only seem to get flames/big backfires when I've layed on the gas for at least the length of 2nd and 3rd THEN let off (hehe usually to slow down). Then I get a lot of backfires in sequence as the car decels (blue flashes I'm told). My first motor backfired on every shift over 4.5K - I heard it's ignition timing sensitive but I'm not sure...my mixture is right though, hasn't gone over the 850 point on the EGT in WOT 3rd or 4th. I wonder what EGT's the stock car puts out??

I agree with you that most IT guys run collected/scvanged exhaust, some collected shortly after ports and some further down. I understand they set up for a particular RPM that is most benificial to their application. (check out Paul Yaw's website)
let say if you want the scavenging helps at RPM of 3k, where/how far down would your exhaust header collected at?
