This would be a question for Mazdatrix.I currently have the single system(header,pre-silencer combo)with the HKS rears. What is the percent HP increase of the true dual over my current setup and is it enough to be worth the cost of buying the pieces I would need to make the true dual system?
Thanks

Yes

Yes but if you get rid of your sleeves and actuators you wouldnt need to worry about them opening at all. Correct. Problem solved.

"CHANTING" Mazdatrix Mazdatrix Mazdatrix

I am also very curious how much of a gain is had by changing from the RB header and presilencer to the true dual.

You guys could sell a hell of a lot of parts on this forum $$$$$$$$.

Well all I know is that the 5th & 6th ports were put there by Mazda. I "believe" you lose even more low end when you remove them, so why not have them work properly? Thats just how I see it.

Mazdatrix...I am going to order the header & the engine to header gasket today. I need to know if there is a flange and/or gaskets I need exiting the header. If so what parts? I want the header & back so I can have a muffler shop run the piping back to the mufflers easily. Thanks.

What mufflers (if any)?

Ryde_or_Die

What mufflers are you using, if you're using some. If you're not, AND you're not using presilencers, DAMN!! I may have missed it or read wrong or something but there was a little section in here where there was talk to a cat-back system and some y-pipes. If it's a true-dual, no y-pipes needed, just a muffler for each, right? Anyway, I want to see some pics of your setup when it's finished as I think I'm taking this route now too.

Ya, I am using mufflers but not sure which ones yet. Any suggestions under $200 each?

the rotary performance mufflers used in there 50mm cat-back would work great for this setup. Without the y-pipe they are two mufflers with piping already welded onto the mufflers. The cat-back is only $400 so without the y-pipe it should be a lil less. Then you will only need basically the header and two almost staight pipes. The piping that comes off of the RP mufflers almost connects them together, the y-pipe is only like a foot long, so the ends of those two pipes are preaty close together and almost in a straight line from the header, with only a slight bend at the flanges. This setup would also reduce the number of "go bad" gaskets to 4; one on the motor, one at the header outlet (this is one gasket with two holes in it), and two for the mufflers. One other advantage of the RP mufflers is that they are almost stock looking, which could help with the "po po" since your car will be loud as hell, when they see the stock looking pipes, they will probably just assume you have a hole in your muffler and let you ride past. I am gonna do it this winter, I realy don't care what it sounds like, I just want to go faster. This may also work with the dynomax mufflers that mazdatrix has now, but since I have not seen them I couldn't tell you. I have the RP system so I have seen it often. But if the dynomax system is similar then it would probably save you some money to just get everything from the same place. I personaly don't like the big fart can look, but some do. I don't see any reason for the tip on my muffler to be any bigger than the piping running to it. And the tips on both the RP and dynomax systems are stainless I believe.

The tips on the RP is how big? I think the RB mufflers have 3" tips. I just want somewhere between 3" & 4". 3.5" would probably be perfect. Well with this high flow system I will have I guess the small the better so it will quiet it down some.

Mazdatrix, I just wanted to know about the SS cat-back exhaust you were developing for the FC a few months back. I remember you had some nice pictures on your site under the new stuff. What ever happened to them?

So do you need 2 of this part # or does it work for both outlets?
