Do you guys know anything about the Mazdaspeed Rotary 1 Motor Oil that is sold at corksport.com?

Does it have gold dust in the oil? Or is it just the can that's made of platinum?

 

This is the same oil they used in the '91 Le Mans winning 787B...

Knightsports sells rotary oil as does R magic. I dont think there is anything that much different from that oil and oil you can get at Pep Boys. Remember, mazdaspeed isnt an oil company so that means they bought their oil from someone else and rebadged it.

yeah....they probably did, but i wonder how much of a difference it makes in a street driven rx7. for $25 a can, ill pass.

 

Actually, it's $104 a can. But the can is 4L so ~$25/qt.

What kind of additive could they put to make them think they can charge that kind of premium?

the only different ingrediant is that somone along the lines thought that a rptary engine was somthing right out of this world and from another planet this same person alsodecuded that parts for it should be stupid expensive and only a small hand full of mechanics on the planet will work on one .. thus causing most of the rotary owners to become doit your selfers ... its an engine use engine oil .... noone of this make you go broke bullshit .. so long as its lubed up it works ...

 

I just researched it. A company called idemitsu developed it.

Yeah too bad you'd have to pull out the oil injection system and premix your gas. But guess what?! They sell oil to premix your gas with too!

 

just use motul....its fantatstic stuff...60 per gallon....or VP C2....race dirtbike **** good stuff....RS7 is top dog VP syn 2 stroke i bet m800 motul and RS7 and idemisu are all the same ****....time to do some research/phone calls.... ill see what i dig up...

There is no reason to remove the oil metering system when you use a good quality synthetic. That is a myth that has been disproven countless times. And for me, GTX work just fine, and is less than a third of the price of idemetsu.

better on oil pressure? changes in oil pressure have nothing to do with lubrication qualities. pressure is changed by viscosity, which causes the oil to have more resistance to flow, causing higher pressure. you're going to have the same oil pressure with any 10w30 or 20w50 whether it's walmart brand or some rip-off like idemitsu.

No additive package is worth the $25/qt. that they want. Ive used Kendall Racing oil with good results. It holds up well and is less than $2.50 per qt. They also have alot of formulas and blends

Wow. I didn't read a whole lot of that article, but I noticed several either misinformed of flat out wrong statements. My personal favorite is that the rotary engine has "cooler combustion." Anyone familiar with these motors knows that they run hotter than piston motors and have sky-high exhaust temps rivaling high output race engines.
The synthetic thing, as I mention earlier in this thread, has be disproven every time this topic comes up. It is true that certain synthetics are very bad to use in a car with the stock oil metering system in place, others (AMSoil and royal purple, for example) are perfectly fine for use in a stock car. In fact, AMSoil actually burns cleaner that regular dino-juice. Now it is debatable whether it is worth spending the extra money on them, but thats up to the owner of the car to decide.
