MAZDASPEED MOTORSPORTS DEVELOPMENT will NO LONGER be selling to non racers. You will need to be a registered member of our program, with current race results, to purchase ANY parts from us. You will also need to log in with a valid ID and password, to view our catalog.

It has been our policy in the past that if someone still wished to purchase a competition part, even though they weren't a member, we would still sell it to them. This is longer the case. (It will take some time for us to update all areas of our site to reflect this.)

There are many online stores catering to Mazda performance parts now, and with the new MAZDASPEED performance accessories that should be in Mazda dealerships soon, Mazda owners should be able to find the performance parts they need. Check out the Links Directory at the Mazda Performance Corner for help finding parts.

MAZDASPEED MOTORSPORTS DEVELOPMENT will be refocusing our business activities around our Team Support members and racing. We are busy making improvements to our site for the benefit of our racers.



what happened?

 

Here's how to kinda get around it.
1. Join the SCCA.
2. Tell them that you're "building" your racecar
3. Per their rules, when building your car, all you have to do is take a picture of you working on it, and a picture of your SCCA registration card, then you get provisional buying power (can still buy everything, but must show proof of 2 races attended).
4. Go to at least 2 autocrosses a season, and you get your full buying power.

This is a small price to pay to get factory backed racing products.

Here's what they officially say about the building process.

IF YOU ARE CURRENTLY BUILDING YOUR CAR

Thanks for registering. Your application is pending approval and is NOT
YET COMPLETE.

To complete the application, you must now fax, mail, or e-mail a photo
of your car (showing you are preparing it for racing) AND a copy of you
racing club membership card. Write your NAME and LOGON ID on each item
and send them together. After receiving these items, we can approve
your membership for parts purchasing privileges.

After your membership is approved, you will receive a notification via
e-mail from MAZDASPEED MOTORSPORTS DEVELOPMENT. You will receive online
privileges at the same time a membership is approved. Please allow at
least two weeks for approval.

Reminder. It is your responsibility to send in results, twice per year
per vehicle, starting within 30 days of your estimated first race date
that you gave us in your application. If you are not able to complete
your first race by the date given, you must call to notify MAZDASPEED
MOTORSPORTS DEVELOPMENT.

Race results must be in a form published by your sanctioning body and
MUST show:

1. Event Name

2. Sanctioning Organization holding the event

3. Date of the Event

4. Your Name

5. Model of Mazda Raced

6. Finishing position

Write your NAME and LOGON ID on each result. Underline your name where
it appears on the results (do not highlight if faxing)

Ok, as a racer who gets support from Mazda, don't do this. This is bullshit.

Go to 2 autocrosses, and get signed up. Goto two sanctioned drag races, and get signed up. If you're legitimately building a race car, then fine. But don't bypass their procedures just to get cheap parts if you don't intend to go racing. I need their support to go racing, they have an incredible program, and they don't ask for a hell of a lot in return.

2 autocrosses... what, 50 bucks and a helmet total? It's not that much folks.

i wasn't meaning to disrespect racers at all, because i think that racing is fun, especially autocrosses and drag races, and the system is set up so that racers must consistently attend races
