Mazda RX-7 runing on half power??

I am thinking of purchasing a 1987 Mazda RX-7 that has about 200,000 miles on it. The car seems to be runing on half power and when idoling usually dies. My question is that from these symptoms does anyone know what might be wrong with the car or is there something that happens to most RX-7's at this age and milage? If anyone has any information please email me back and your help will be greatly appriciated...Thanks,
-Reilly

Do a compression test and find out if any of the seals are blown.

at 200K that engine has likely seen the end of its time, especially if its severely lacking power. Personally id only buy it if the body was in excellent shape, and make an offer based on what youl be paying for a rebuild.

yea, what he said, compression check.
take out your spark plugs too, inspect them, you could be running on 1 rotor. I smell a blown seal...
Did your car blow smoke?

When my coolant seals were worn out, my spark plugs were getting drenched, and not able to ignite properly. The car was running slow as ****, had a funny sounding idle, and would absolutely die at idle if i let go of the gas peddle. I got my spark plugs cleaned, and fired her up again, and then was able to get back home. But they just got drenched again the next day
