mazda reman engines- how good?
I think Kevin Landers will do new rotor housings if you pay for them. If you want a reman, I would send your engine to Rotary Resurrection and have him install new rotor housings.
You people know if you qualify for mazdacomp you get 40% off this stuff right?

hey all,
Thanks a billion for all your input. It is more than helpful, and gives me a picture of where I need to go on this.
I think Im going the mazda reman route. I didnt know about the possible new side housings, etc or flywheel, etc.
The guy at the counter is helpful and will call some main mazda office on his speakerphone and ask them any info on parts I need, if it reads discontinued on his computer etc.
In a day or so they will tell me about the housings and I will update the thread- however it makes sense to have new housings if the old ones are grooved damaged etc.
The engine is coming out saturday night, it should be easy, other than the dreaded exhaust bolts, which I have ran into before, sometimes they are a baby, sometimes not.
I will also get a new clutch. My car only has 73,000 miles on it and everything is in good shape- I bought it 2 months ago.
Above 1000 rpm it runs awesome, but below 1000, it stumbles and dies. I did a billion checks and then finally checked what I didnt want to check- the front rotor had over 90 psi, the rear one had like 65.. so that gave me the answer.
I think the car sat so long, it might have carboned up and then lost a seal when it was restarted ?
Thanks again for all your input.

mazdacomp is an entity of mazda for the grassroots racer. They supply lots of Mazda OEM and aftermarket (including Mazdaspeed) parts for Mazda drivers that race their car competitively at least twice a year. You get 40% off the list price if you are a mazdacomp member and all you have to do is go to 2 autocrosses, drag races, road races (sorry track days don't count), etc.
