im trying to figure out why i need abs master cylinder in a car without any other abs equipment, i did some digging and found that the abs on the 929 master cylinder is non integral so what exactly is different between the abs/non abs unit?

the ABS version of the master has 2 lines, front and rear. non abs uses a little Y fitting thing to get rear, left front, and right front.

the actual master cylinder is the same.

master will only fit an s5 t2 booster

I think the 929 brake booster is the same as the TII booster.

i just got the MC from advanced and it has only two ports a front and rear port but no banjo fitting or resavour...also i looked at my rx7 MC and it has 3 lines/ports coming from it?? i thought this was a bolt in swap?? and i only needed to reshape the stock rx7 lines? what do i do with the third line?

i read the guide that crspyrx7 posted up and it seems that the FD3S has only 2 lines like the 929 does but my FC3S has 3 lines. here are pics of the 929 master cylinder that i got, you can see that it only has two ports on the side. the rx7 master cylinder has one port on drivers side, one port on passenger side and one port on the bottom of the front of the master cylinder..what do i do with these lines when the 929 MC only has 2 ports and i have 3 lines i need to connect. here are some pics of the 929 MC, i put black mark where the 3 lines would be on the rx7 MC...

So the reason for this upgrade is this master clylinder has a full piston instead of 15/16 of a piston? Does anyone have a write up for the FC?

i havent found a write up for an fc but so far it seems as though you need to have a S5 TII brake booster for this to work, IMO this swap is not worth it unless you have a big brake kit like me. the idea is the piston diameter is larger... the new larger brembo calipers take alot more fluid so this larger piston allows the pedal to be stiffer rather then the pedal going down farther because its trying to fill the larger calipers..

be interesting if that is true. FC booster has some crazy long studs holding it to the car, makes anything else not a drop in swap. the hole pattern in the firewall is the same for every mazda i checked, fc/fd/tribute/mpv/rx8....

BUT the other boosters dont work because the FC mounting studs are like 5" long, everything else is short

you need to return that, the tank that holds the brake fluid is $$$$$$$ from mazda, and the FC one wont fit.

you NEED to get HG31-43-400D, its the cheapest way.

if you dont have abs, you need to come up with some way to split the one port on the master into 2.

this is ONLY a bolt in on an S5 t2, everything else is custom.... ive got an 87 gxl in the driveway with a 929 master, and it took some interesting fab work, and a new booster to work

yeah just today i installed a S5 booster, i can confirm that this will only work with a S5 TII booster..the way the master cylinder seals against the booster is completely different from the design of the S4, also i had to T the front lines into one so i had to make a total of 3 lines with half stock fittings and half standard 1/4 inch fittings for the 1/4 inch T block..making the lines was a pain in the ***...the bends you have to make are really tight so it makes it hard as hell to flare the ends but i got it all done and now ill be installing the brembo front calipers and rotors and the corksport rear rotors.. this swap isn't necessary unless your installing a big brake kit..ill post pics when its all done

Please say you double flared those lines....

And yes tight radius bends = PITA.

lol yeah i most definitely double flared all the lines..i even broke the damn little peg off the flaring tool (little round mandrel thingy) bit, so i went to a mechanic friend of mine and we ******* broke the peg off his too haha and he's been using the same tool for 5 years now lol just my luck!! so we used his neighbors tool and finally got them done without breaking the tool... after that i was shocked that every line installed as if they were factory fit, the lengths were perfect, i was even able to make a nice little bracket extension to bolt the proportion valve to the master, the factory bracket wont work with the new master/booster, the setup seriously looks nicer then factory, im very happy with it so far, i hope it performs better as well

ok so i just installed the evo brakes and filled up the master with brake fluid, then went to bleed the system and the damn lines i made for the master ******* leak!!! i dont understand why. i tried to tighten them more and it didnt fix it so i made new lines and they still leak..im ******* pissed i can not stop them from leaking..anyone have any suggestions on what i may be doing wrong?? im using a double flare tool and the flares look fine. obviously they arent as pretty as the factory flares but they should work..i did notice that the (trumpet) or inside of the flare is wider then the factory lines could that be why its leaking?

Sometimes when flaring brake lines, you can form small hair line cracks that are really hard to see.

I haven't tried it myself and I am sure its possible to do it yourself, but I've heard of many people having problems trying to flare the lines themselves.
