Unhappy may sound like a DUMBASS ? but...

What does it mean to get your injectors blueprinted?

I've heard ppl talk about it, seen it in sigs etc....

What does it mean, cleaning?

well, I'll give it a shot from what I've heard and understand...blueprinting is a method of using ultrasonic waves to clean fuel injectors making them close to brand new again. After getting your injectors cleaned and blueprinted you will get results showing the flow rate before and after to see how much the blueprinting helped. Supposedly people with old crappy injectors will get 98+% after having there injectors cleaned. RC Engineering will clean and blueprint injectors for $25/piece. www.rceng.com

yeah, I have blueprinted injectors. You might have seen it in my sig. I got them done because it's the main cause of my brother blowing the original engine *when he owned it*, because both of them were leaking, and the fuel was leaking into the rotor housings I guess, and washing away the oil, and therefore, the rotors were not lubricated, and everything went to hell. They do give you a sheet of before and after. On mine, both were "dripping" and afterwards neither of them were. Wether it's by sonic waves or whatever, I don't know. I thought it was just like blue printing an engine. You find the EXACT specifics of every single part in the mechanism, and you make sure that everything is measured exactly right to the 100th millimeter and replace all parts with the best on the market, but make sure everything matches specifications EXACTLY. therefore, everything is at the top condition possible. But... SpeedRacer may be right.. It may be through those funky waves.... I just know that I have 'em, and my engine isn't blowing up, so I'm happy.

holy ****, injectors can blow a motor??? well i guess they can cause leanness... but anti-lubrication... wow!

does STP (or equivalent) injector cleaner help alot, safe for a rotary??

Another way to do it - have it dynoed (sp??) and if it's near rwHP then your good. If it's more than 10-15% below OEM spec then you might want to look at what can be done to restore HP.

That would include new/blueprinted fuel injectors I guess. Spark plugs, spark plug wires, etc.. would also help.

Since the fuel injectors can bleed when the car's turned off after 80K-120K miles (aka flooding) - you might just consider buying new ones as well since I've heard the cost is only 15-20% more.

Actually, everybody is somewhat wrong about blueprinting. Blueprinting is nothing more than restoring anything(injectors, bearings, anything like that) to factory specs. When injectors are blueprinted, they are cleaned, then all of the flow rates are matched. The matching part is often called balancing injectors, while blueprinting is setting them to the factory flow rates if theyre not at that.

This is supergoat on my fiances computer....I'm too lazy to log her out and log me in.

Anyway, my car 105K miles on it. It is a N/A. I take it, getting my injectors blue printed would be a good idea? Where might one get this done? Mazda? Or should I go to a performance shop? Thanks.

It costs $24 per injector, and the turnover rate is 3 days if you ship them overnight...damn good deal if you ask me.
