Do you think this is overkill? I have not gotten it tapped yet but it should be in the car by this weakend. What do you think?

shoulda gotten a short throw shifter IMO (no flames) but if you were going for the short shift lever syou sure accomplished it. The shift **** is going to be crushing the shift boot.i dont like that look at all so i voted yes its too short.

I'm keeping the old one. I have the feeling your right. I may even add the altered fulcrum to it but that would probably be to short and stiff a throw.

Then it's probably out an 86'. That's the only tranny to have a different 5th gear than any other N/A FC.

GTUs has a shorter (more usable?) 5th gear, or so I've heard.

As for this thread, the picture isn't showing up bud.

If a "short" shifter is slowing you down, I'd suggest that you fix it. A modification isn't worthwhile if it's detrimental to your cars performance.

ya i know. I'm pulling it out and using it to make a cad design that ill ad an inch or so and see how much it will cost to get one out of aluminum. and posably with a 45 in it so it feels like the old pistol grip shifters. but ya it currently has a 2 1/8" first to second throw.
