Maxxing out my injectors?

whats up, i have a 88 rx7 with a large street port and other goodies... It seems when i hit about 5-6k rpms, i start running lean. So i put a TII fuel pump in it last night to see if it would help at all, and it did a bit.. but im curious if i just need to upgrade my secondaries and possibly run a fuel controller (safc II). i dont see how i would max them out.. but it looks like as if i am.

Any ideas?

What size are your injectors? Are they just the stock 460s? If you can afford it, I would run maybe the TII injectors, and a SAFC would help a lot.

I would probably at least run 550s (I'm pretty sure that's what TII comes with). If you get a SAFC, you could run 720's too, but I don't think you'd need that much.

How do you know you're running lean? NA injectors can flow enough for ~250fwhp, so it's highly unlikely they need upgrading with only a streetport.

Yea how do you know? Your not using one of those useless light-show A/F gauges are you? Anyway a SAFC2 would be a good idea, those are one of the most valuable things you can have on a modded car. Anyway find some 550s that somebody took off their TII and pick 'em up for cheap, along with a $250 APEXi SAFC-2 and you should be good to go! Get that bitch tuned with a wideband O2 also!

Why is everyone so quick to just advise throwing more parts on the car? Honeslty, most N/As , even with large streetports , benifit from leaning out the top end. My advise would be to see what the problem is 1st. Id be looking more into ignition breakup (whens the last time you had a tune-up? Plugs, wires, etc?) or somethng along those lines. Unless the porting is huge and there are a good bit of other mods, or the injectors are not flowing as they should, I doubt the problem is you are running lean.

Yeah, I am going to agree here, I was running very rich at 6K and up with the stock injectors and a street port.

Most Non turbos run way rich up top, and can benifit from leaning out.

What makes you think you are running lean? Probably the opposite.
