well the fuel cut defense eliminates the fuel cut from the pressure sensor seeing too much boost, which in turn also eliminates the Rev limiter which is also another form of fuel cut. At least my HKS unit does this,

Of course if you miss a shift you can redline it no matter what sort of rev limiter you have set, since it's a mechanical over-rev from the mass of the car dragging the engine up to speed.

you cna go past the redline limit. I have shifted the cars past redline limit. I haven't seen no damage. Unless you miss gear at that high rpm. Say bye bye to your clutch and tranny

as a matter of fact after I put my bonez high flow cat on I took it for a drive.
When I hit 2nd the tach bottomed out for some reason. Then it was time for 3rd but I was running out of room on my dead end street.
I stopped the car but tach again was burried so I had to shut off the car. scared the crap out of me.
Cranked it back up and again the tach screamed maxed out. shut it off again.
Looked at my gas pedal and it was stuck under my floormat....
damn thing nearly killed me, the motor or both.
watch out for the floormats!

Safe limit is stock redline...There is no gain to driving past redline as the power quickly drops off. Only advantage is that you might get the engine closer to the powerband on the upshift.
Also, this topic has been covered hundreds of times before, always with the same result...

I know with piston cars taking it clsoe to the redline and over alot can cause things to rattle loose (it's happened to my Accord before) and is generally not recommended, but with a rotory, is it that big of a deal to shift high? Last time I took one out for a test drive, I was taking it to the limit the whole time, and it was so smooth and buttery I'm beginning to think that the engine has no problems with it.

And to answer the question, i routinely take my car past the redline. It has a large streetport, among other things, so it makes good power until about 7500 (redline is 7000). I did miss the damn 1-2 **** last time I was at the strip and took it past 8000. I got nice big fireball that scared the guy in the next lane.

no kidding...my boss used to race stock cars, and he's seen some clutches blow apart, once taking off the drivers foot. scary ****, thinking about investing in a transmission blanket after that.
