Master cylinder swap 2nd Gen
I have heard that my 2nd Gen brakes can be improved with a master cylinder swap. The 929 M/C is supposed to fit right on. I checked the net and the only help I found was for a 3rd Gen.
Can someone tell me which 929 M/C fits the 2nd Gen? I checked the local parts shop and they told me there were several part numbers depending on the year of the 929. I am looking for one that has a larger diameter piston than the stock 2nd Gen M/C.
Has anyone done this swap? Results? Discussion? Suggestions? Help!!!

I used the master cylinder from an 1989 929 on my 87 TII. If you are going to install a new master cylinder buy a new one. It did not make much of a differnce as far as I can tell, the difference in diameter is only about 1/8th of an inch.

I haven't personally done this swap but I have heard that the 929 master cylinder upgrade on the 2nd gen cars is only worth it if you have put on an aftermarket braking system (13" or larger).
The 1/8" larger bore on the stock system will not be worth the upgrade. You have to bend up 1 completely new hard line for this conversion I have heard also. The other lines supposedly line up.
I haven't done this so don't take my word for it.
If you want better pedal pressure get braided steel brake lines if you don't have them already and upgraded pads.
