I am new to the RX-7 world and and dont know much about these cars, I really need some info. I have come across a Mariah MOde 5 widebody RX-7, second gen. in a junk yard. Its in really good condition, the interior could use some very minor work and the motor seems to be find, but i dont know if it will run yet or if I need to replace the apex seals and or do a full rebuild. It also used to have a paxton supercharger on it, which I have found and will try to get back on it. My question is, what this car is worth, the guy at the junk yard has no idea what he has, and I think I can get it from him for under $1000, but for all i know I will need a new motor, and theres a bit of cosmetic work needed. What would a car like this be worth if I fixed it up, I dont have mileage yet.

for under 1000 I would just go for it. you could probably make that money back pretty easy.

 

The pic you linked is a Mode 6 body kit. Pretty expensive kit from Mariah. If you can get the car for under $1k thats a steal especially considering the body kit is like $3k. Does the car have wider wheels on it already?

hmm.... yeah I guess it is a Mode 6. Nice. Yeah, I'm working on getting it with a buddy of mine. Actually it used to have a paxton supercharger on it and we're trying to get that one put back on. someone took it off of the car a while back , but we know people that know him. he rebuilt it so he wants 600 for it, may end up paying more for the supercharger than the car itself...heh.

Hey, does anyone know a good shop for rotary work in the Atlanta, Ga area? I'm probably gonna need to get the motor rebuilt.

Its all in the works, I wont let it slip through my fingers.

yeah that sounds fishey, and i dont likr that body kit at all, amkes it look too much like a porche.

That body kit is awful and everyone knows it despite how much it cost. Go to the junkyard, get every single part you can. For example, tailights, interior plastics, supercharger, injectors, tps, maf, etc.

Go home clean them up. Sell them on the forum or e-bay and dont get yourself in a mess with that hidious car! Save some money and get a decent T2! YOu will pat yourself on the back afterwards.

 

IT'S ALLRIGHT...............it's the most complete body kit available ( with door parts) but it needs a different front end......buy it, part it out, make cash and buy another running 7.

now that i look at it some more, it looks like a transformer in car mode!

 

It doesnt matter how much you put into these car, just dont expect to get your moneys worth back. These cars are old and unless you find someone that stupid enough to buy it then dont expect the pay back on the car. Then again you just might(big might) break even.

 

tell me where it is. I will go and buy it, if that is what it is. I am not disturbed buy some of these " that is ugy statements" I like wide body 7s.

Ask yourself why is this car at a junkyard. Seems like if an owner put that much money into a car and its now at a junkyard somethign catastrophic must have happened to it. YOu mentioned cosmetic work. Is it possible the car was in a frame twisting wreck?

 

for under 1k, i'd go for it. You can't go wrong with something you can part out and perhaps make a profit from if things dont go as planned. Good luck with it.

I don't like the front bumper bumper the body kit is nice. Most people on here talk **** but if they had come across such a deal they would take it too. HATERS!!!!
