MAP sensor

Can i use the MAP pressure sensor from a 1988 GXL on my 1988 T2?

No, you must use one from the correct model (S4 or S5, NA or turbo)

NO.
MAP sensors are typically 5VDC devices.
All FC non-turbo MAP sensors (i.e. pressure sensors) are "1 bar MAP sensors", which means that when the MAP sensor see "0" manifold, the 1 bar MAP sensor will max out at around 5.0VDC.
All FC turbo MAP sensors (i.e. boost sensors) are "2 bar MAP sensors", which means that the MAP sensor will max out at 5.0VDC at approximately 15psi.

So, if you plugged a non-turbo pressure sensor where the turbo boost sensor was, at "0" manifold, the stock ECU would easily overboost fuel-cut, cause it thinks it's in 15psi of boost!

The non-turbo engine sees "0" manifold whenever you open the throttle abruptly like WOT.

But i can take a 2bar MAP sensor (5vdc) from an other car?(not mazda)

hmm, anyone know how the MAP sensor works? is it active or is it only a potmeter?
