Question Many questions.

alright i posted here once before and asked a few questions about the N/A 13B from a 91 seven. everyone was really helpful.

so here are a few more questions:

stock apex seal sizes?... whats needed to go bigger? if anything? how does it affect compression?

has anyone ever tried to cryo the apex seals?

best/cheapest performance gains?

Stock Compression ratio?

who does their own porting?

Why???  Bigger seals means more friction.  More friction means more wear, less sealing, less power...

how does it affect compression?
It doesn't.

Why???  Harder seals mean more friction, which means more wear.  Mazda designed the seals to be softer than the housings for a reason.

best/cheapest performance gains?
"Best" does not equal "cheapest".
Cheapest bang for the buck - NOS.

Stock Compression ratio?
9.7:1

who does their own porting?
I do.

1. Don't go bigger, especially on an N/A. larger seals don't seal as well, and thus make the least power.

2. yep. www.FC3s.org still does, IIRC.

3. putting on a cone filter and getting free flowing exhaust are the only major power gains for an N/A.

4. 1989-1991 N/A 13B had 9.7:1 compression rotors.

5. Lots of people. I do several different versions of porting styles.

thanks for the replies guys.

i read some stuff on the differences between 1 and 2 piece apex seals and i think that 1 piece are supposed to lower compression.

i also read that they make ceramic seals... which are harder than the original seals and that they perform much better, and wont break nearly as easy(but are also a lot more expensive). thats why i asked about just cryoing the stockers.

That's a weird one, and it's wrong.
