Manual trans swap HELP!!!!

ok heres my problems:

1.) got the flex plate off, but cant get the nut holding the counterweight off. (engine is still mounted.)

2.) used an s4 pedal assembly and cant find where to hook up the 2 clutch switches.

3.) where do i wire the reverse, 5th gear, and nuetral safety switches too?

4.) i have the tach that redlines at 8, but the auto tach has little prongs coming out behind the tach and the manual one doesnt. ore the prongs for the extra lights on the atuo tach?

thanks alot. after that stuff is figured out i will have an FC again =)

you understand that the trans mounts are different for the auto and the manual..

Click here for 'Complete Automatic to Manual Conversion Write UP'

the wiring in that write up seems to be right... although he claims the write up will work for s4 cars as well, which is essentially wrong. *especially when using a s4 manual trans!!!*

THE WRITE UP NEEDS TO BE AMENDED TO SAY IT'S NOT FOR S4 TRANSMISSIONS

when using an s4 transmission you will either have to use the cheapo mounting adapter made from a c channel, weld in s4 mounting points to the body, use the tail housing from an S5 (may work), or make a different adapter (what i did).

this is because ALL automatic trans AND S5 manuals have the same shape mounting flange, so you can just put the auto crossmember on the S5 transmission and make straight, stepped down adapter brackets like the write up describes. s4 manual transmissions have a uniquely shaped mount, which will not fit the auto crossmember. additionally, the s4 crossmember mounts differently to the body than the s5, so you can't even use the s4 bracket, then bolt it to the adapter brackets described in the write-up.

i know it's confusing, but trust me, whatever year car you are swapping into go with a s5 transmission if you want to get this done quickly and painlessly.

possibly part of the neutral safety switch circuit? there are 2. one is open when the clutch pedal is depressed, and the other is open when it isnt depressed.
