Manual Steering Rack swap

Hi all I have an S5 Turbo and I'm looking to buy an S4 manual steering rack from a friend.

Does it matter if it comes from an adjustable steering column or not?

Is this a direct bolt up or am I going to need more S4 parts?

Please enlighten me with anything else I may need to know, Thanks!

Off topic but if you plan on doing any type of performance driving the semi-truck 20:1 ratio manual rack will be very annoying and un sports-car like. S4 manual racks are 15:1, I'd get one and de-power it, weld the pinion to the shaft and plug the lines.

The S5 turbo rack should be the same as all the S4 power racks at ~15:1.

I drive my T2 on tracks all the time with the manual rack. It's a little bit of a hassle for autox but for normal circuit driving it's not an issue, I never turn it further than a half turn as far as I can remember. Even with the manual's lower ratio it's a royal PITA for parallel parking, I imagine the depowered power one is even worse.

This car is a daily driver that should see some minor track days. This includes autox, road racing, and drifting. I'm looking more for reliability and simplicity. The car I have now has the de-powered power rack but the asshat that did it crimped **** and bent ****.

What size bolts are all the fittings on the rack? Maybe I can just get some nicer looking hardware?
