Manual Steering Rack => Faster Ratio?

I'm looking for information or details about altering the manual steering in my TII to have a faster ratio. I found an old post regarding this and it was suggested that swaping in the PS rack would be possible. Has anyone done this or have any details about it? (not that I want PS, I just want a faster ratio)

Thanks.

The manual rack is considerable tighter than the power rack, it is 20.3:1 while the power racks on everything but the GTUs is 15.2:1 (the GTUs engine speed sensitive power steering is 17.2:1).

I thought it was the other way around....the p/s having less turns to lock, the m/s having more turns to lock making it easier....

The power steering does have fewer turns lock to lock, but the ratio is considerably lower because of the boost.

Ummmm... ok.

The manual rack requires you to turn the steering wheel further to get the same amount of turn at the front wheels.

I'm confused, the manual should have more turns lock to lock which makes it easier. Power should be less turns lock to lock because the assist enables it to have a quicker ratio. So Power rack with out the pump would be faster but harder than the manual.

swap in a power rack, and than just take out the power aspect of it. do a search for it, i remember doing a write up when i did it to my car. worked very well, i am happy with doing it. just make sure you use good quality hoses.

Snrub, I have a 91 vert that I was thinking of converting to a manual rack... Maybe we could work out a trade? (of course you're in Canada which makes shipping a little pricy).

Let me know if you're interested.
