Manual steering installation

Has anyone went from power steering to a manuel steering rack and pinion. If yes was it an easy installation.

Im sure some have. Most just remove the PS pump, all lines that go with it and use it as a manual rack. As for taking out a power rack and putting in a manual rack. As long as the "steering shaft" from a manual and power car are the same it would be as simple as replacing the rack and removing a couple lines and the pump.

So it is all relative. It depends on your mechanical ability. If replacing the rack is hard for YOU then there is your answer.

I don't know why people do it. I will be installing a POWER rack on my T2 soon. Mine came from the factory with a manual rack. It's not worth is IMO.
