Manual seatbelt conversion?

I'm planning to do a conversion from s5 automatic mousebelts to s4 manual belts. Anybody know if there are any problems with the seatbelt light going off in the warning cluster? Can I just leave in the mousebelt tracks?

Thanks.

I lke your custom targa top, BUT it looks really nasty when the door is open. Guess it can't be helped though.

Were the actual manual seatbelts available in black other than with the 10th AE?

First of all... my passenger side is no longer working.

Second of all I'm very reluctant to bring my car to the dealer to get it repaired with the mods I have on it right now.

Third it'll make installing my cusco pillar side bars easier by alot.

It's not exactly that I dont like them it's just more convenient for me.

Its kinda hard but you can try tracking down canadian S5's. They had manual belts too.

Yea I thought about the canadian models but it would be too much trouble I think.

Dan just in case you didnt know but the mazdaspeed gear is here!! PM me if you wanna pick it up before the meet.

Do s4's have a seatbelt warning light in the cluster? Any problem with the s5 warning light coming on after swapping to manual? No one has answered this one yet.

I was thinking of doing the same thing, but more of a wheight reduction and simpler operation than anything.

i didn't know that canadian fcs had manual seat belts. I guess it would be easier than I thoght.

road trip to canada, anyone

I took mine in the dealer cause my passenger side belt is also on the blitz. Its covered by the recall. I have a fair bit of mods done, I'm not running cats and they didn't say anything. But they also made me take it in 3 times and they ended up cracking some interior plastic so they had to replace that in addition to the other work they did but in the end my passenger belt still isn't working and they say its due to a faulty door sensor that isn't covered by the recal. what a waste of time.

I'm more worried about them driving it around town pedal to the metal. I just want the simplest solution to be able to have working seatbelts and also be able to fit the cusco door bars.

Resolder or replace the CPU.

It only works for the first 30 seconds when the ignition key is on

Converted to manual belts on the passenger side. When I open and close the door I hear a clicking sound and the seatbelt light doesnt turn off. Is there a fuse to pull to disable the light or will I have to ground a certain wire?

I live in Canada, and I have parts cars. I'll see what I can get in the way of belts.

was the conversion easy? my car came with the mouse track thing too, only thing was that it didnt come with the belts, and i was just thinking of putting the s4 manual ones. i just drive it around my neighborhood since its not a smart move to pull to the main road without the car having any seatbelts.

Conversion was not difficult at all. Only problem you will run into is that the s4 pillar trims will not fully lock down with the clips because the s5 has these support brackets that are welded on and block some of the mounting holes. I took the entire mousebelt assembly out. Also you will have a large hole in the side of the door sill and carpet if you remove the retractable lap belt assembly. You'll also have to paint the interior to match the s5 black if you care about detail or you can try tracking down someone in Canada with an s5 black interior (not likely). Personally I mixed and matched s4 and s5 interior panels, havent decided on which one I will stay with since you can still use either, only thing is the s4 has some gaps were it meets with the weatherstripping on the door frame and also on the headliner.
