Manifold still leaking Exhaust ?'s

I am not a novice when it comes to these car I am just searching to see if womeone else has had this problem.

The deal is I have a 87NA and I have a exhaust leak at the manifold. I replaced the gasket had the manifold plained and still it leaks from the top of the manifold. I had a spare manifold and installed that on the car and imagine that it still leaked at the top. And yes I am positive thats were it is leaking, the down pipe gasket is sealed and my scope tells me so.

So if you have been through this before let me know. I may try a header but I have bad feeling it may leak as well.

Sounds like there is a defect in the rotor housing/intermediate iron that it mounts to. Or the studs have pulled and are loose.

The TII exhaust gasket may help, but it's kind of expensive compared to the NA part.

You know I was thinking there may be a defect there but I would think that that would couse some internal engine damage. The studs are in good shape the nuts came off easy and it chased the threads and antisezed the studs. I was thinking of useing some spare gaskets I have from my FD.

Thanks for the help and direction
