Making Jspec FTPs, the cheap way

I was wondering if there is a way to "make" Jspec FTP lights. Anyone have any pictures or ideas on how to do it?

i was thinking about stripping the Parking Lamp wires and connecting driving lamps to make them shine thru the FTPs

But i was wondering if there was a way to "CLEANLY" mod the FTPs so that the lights sit tightly behind them and they look cool ^_^

Anyone have any ideas?

I've look through the form, I saw the day time headlight conversion, but wouldn't routing the parking lamp wires be much simpler?

Just because your FTP lenses light up doesn't mean they look like the JDM FTP lenses.

I honestly do not see the purpose for these other than aesthetics. I mean is it really that important for your car to have light up FTP lenses? Or is just that you want your car to look like you got it imported from Japan?

People may choose to ignore them (like turn signals) but hey, thats what the car is biult to deal with.

Daytime running lights are the way to go

Just wire the fogs as DRL - (see avatar)

I have seen several drivers (and 1 deer) start to pull out in my path then stop when they see the 55 watt running lights.

Ya I always planned on doing the same thing. Possibly even modding them enough to use them as headlights if I wanted. How hard is it to get the FTPs apart cleanly?

The pattern on the outside of the JDM FTP's is also way different than the US versions. I got mine for about $75 bucks shipped and they came nicely wrapped in Mazda boxes (not knock offs hehe).

So...you dont think people can see you flashing your 100W high beams, but you think they will see a little 5W bulb that is behind them? The J-spec FTPs seem worthless to me. They are not flass-to-pass anymore, just more of a running light.

Exactly...at dusk they happen to look pretty cool with the dims on. I took out the standard wedge bulb from the japanses FTP's and tossed in a raybrig yellow wedge bulb. At dusk/night they look really nice with my HID's. The standard bulb color just looked wrong and I didn't wany anything "blue" hehe The yellow almost gives that Lexus look at night.

Yeah! Exactly! just for that 30 minutes at Dusk.......
but for that 30 minutes each day, i don't think i want to spend over 100 dollars on a pair of lights......
Like me, living in the Bay Area, where everyone on the freeway have retarded ricer mobiles..... when you have a RX-7, that just shuts them up.... so making something custom is always a good thing =)

u know, when those Integra GSR's think they can pass u........ then u beat them "at their own game" boy do they look like idiots...... ^_^ (i know, i think everyone on this forum SHOULD be elitists=)

Like I said, I got mine for $75.00 and to me it was a great buy...my original FTP's were fogged up and faded and the car was going to the body shop for a front lip and sideskirts plus re-spraying the S5 nose. So, rather than look for some used FTP's these brand spankin new ones fit the bill, plus they had the lights

I'm using a 18 watt bulb so its actualy much much brighter than the 5 watt ... not good enough for Daytime lights but they look cool at night.

What kind of bulb is that? I think I'd use 2 bulbs in each or something. Does the light come through very well or no? Like can it light the road up at all?

if you can see the bulb like that... the light is going through just fine. But light up the road??? that's a big hell no. there's no way a lil 5watt bulb like that can light up anything more than 1ft away from the car
