Making an FC driftable?
I hear that the FC's rear suspension was designed kind of odd, in that it adjusts camber all by itself while you're actually driving the car. What would I need to do to correct this and make an FC easily driftable?

Not that it's a bad thing. If you can drift an FC you can drift almost any other "Drift car".
I can hop in my friends' 240 or 86 and slide them with no problems. If it wern't for our car's excessive understeer when on stock supension, it would be the perfect grip car. Most of this IMO.

I have understeer at low speeds on nitto 450s so yeah i can sort of relate, at high speeds though those tires hold like a champ... If you cant keep an FC out for long then there is something wrong with your car as in the 5/6th ports or something because i can drift a corner with ease and alot of tire smoke as well.

Ever watch an S13 drift?  The stock FC will never do that.
You'll need to redo the steering linkage points to the front hubs to get that kind of steering angle to be able to get that sideways...
Do a search - we've been talking about this for the past several months now.

u know i watch alot of drift videos and such, and alot of those guys dont countersteer as much as most people think, its just small adjustments, granted they do sometimes, but it relies more on skills, but i do agree 240s are better drift cars, but ive seen some FC's do some nice ****

I think it's kinda funny that people here are all jumping on the drift ban wagon. I mean, yeah its really fun and all but I remember watching option video's back in 92 when I was in high school thinking how cool it looked. I guess it's just wierd that the Japaneese have been doing it for sooo long and it's just now getting popular here.

I dunno, i mean i like to practice both grip and drift.. there are times when you just want to break it loose, and there are times when you dont. Its all in the mood... thats like saying "should i listen to This or this"..

You really need to go drifting in an FC and an S13/S14 - it'll open your eyes.  Also, if it's Koguchi's FC, it has modified hubs, so he don't count - well, this is what I'm talking about when I mean modified steering points...

as far as driftings goes , anyone who lives in snow country can attest tolearning how to drift before they even had their lic I bet. the whole art of ice racing IS one big drift. Whats new is the fact that well balanced, lightweight FR cars are now affordable to the kids who've watched ID and have seen D1 or the the drift nation shows, that's all.
Frifiting an FC and the different experiences peole have had 9 under/oversteer) can be accounted for usually by tyre and suspension chioce & how the car was set up. For drifting an FC get some steel wheels in a 15" some 195 cheap tyres with harder sidewalls and have the rear toe setup for either zero toe or a .5+ ( positive ) toe, if you drive this a daily then keep it at zero. Ditch the passive steering as mentioned or get used to the shift and compensate for it. ( I'm pretty sure the Enfini does not have this feature) . next up is swaybars you need to reduce the body roll so you can pivot back to center balance again faster without having the weight transfer continue over to the opposite side ( you end up in a fishtail ). It's harder to start a drift like this but it's allot easier to control coming out of a corner or on a longer sweeper..
just a few things i've found that work, how you set up the car in the end usually comes down to what works for you.

So the bushings should help? I don't want a car that slides very time I touch the gas and turn, I just want it so the rear end slides out when I want it to. I figure if I get those bushings and pump up the rear tires I should be fine for some drift action.

I don't think its funny that the US kids are hopping on the drift band wagon. I think it sucks. America is always behind the times when it comes to influences in music, methods, driving/racing. We still don't use the metric system!!! sometimes I hate the US.

Oops, wrong guy.  Koguchi has the S13 hatch.  I think it's Haraguchi - he drives an FD in D1 now.
If driver skill was identical, then the S13/S14 would be all over the FC, period.  The steering angle is superior to the FC, and it can stay sideways harder and longer than the stock FC can do.  You can **** with the suspension all you want, and it won't help - trust me.  You need to get the steering points modded on the hubs.
I'm talking about COMPETITION DRIFTING when you gotta beat the S13/S14 and Hachis.  No stock FC is going to beat those cars, unless the other drivers are shitty.
If we're talking about just ******* around on some back road - I don't call that real "drifting".

Well I'm not really talking about competition drifting. I guess if i get my GXL though, I'll take it to a lot and try to drift, and then determine what I think needs to be changed.
