makeing the best out of a t2 and gxl

ok so about a month ago i picked up a 1989 gxl. it ran and almost everything worked just had a few little kinks in it.
like sunroof is broken and rusted, one of the head lights would not come up and windows would not come up. the seats and door panels were crap and it had 1600000km on it with no rebuilds. but still ran fine and worked.

and now i just picked up a 1989 t2. and again the car has its quirks.
like the door wont lock of unlock with the key. someone did a horrible wirring job with a dvd player and enough wires going to the truck to wire a whole house. also added some boost controller and timer that i have no idea how they work. and one of the hinges for the hatch broke so he welded it on crooked. so now you have to push the hatch over then close it. and the body is in pretty rough shape. and has a crack in the windshield.

now both cars run and drive perfectly but of course the turbo is funner. but my question is what would you guys do? move all of the 'good parts' over to the t2 and sort out all of the stupid wirring?

or move everything over to the gxl that has a nicer body and is perfectly stock? even the suspension changing thing works.

so what is more work. rewirring a car or switching in a new drivetrain?

Why not keep both cars?

GXL as the daily driver, and the TII as the weekend car/fixer-upper.
