When was the last tuneup? If you don't know, get that done first.

Normal maintenance:
oil changes every 3K, tuneups every 30K, sparkplug wires every 60K. Use redline synthentic in the rear differential & transmission. Use normal oil in the engine.

Special Maintenance:
replace pulsation dampiner every 85K miles, TPS (throttle position sensor) every 90-120K miles, get fuel injectors blueprinted/cleaned/repaired every 100K miles

That should keep her happy, running correctly, and most importantly run reliably.

If your car is an 86-88, the injector blueprinting is especially important. Any leakage after you turn the car off will cause the engine to flood.

Change all fluids on time if not sooner. Check everything i.e.(hoses, belts, plugs, filters, ect.) try to keep the gas tank above 1/4 level at all times to keep the fuel filter from clogging. Oil changes every 2500 miles is a MUST!!! search on the sites for maintenance schedules most have one. I am new also. only had my Fc for about six months but I did my homework and the rule of thumb is be obsessive about your car and it will be good to you.

Standard leading plugs show wear at 10000, and are shot by 15000. Platinum plugs go about 50000.

Although I advacate also plug replacement every 15K miles, plugs (and other engine parts) will be more worn if using a cheap cone filter (like some of the stainless screen types or cheap paper types) instead of a K&N, or Apexi, or RamAir, or OEM.

I also recommend full change of brake and clutch fluid once every two years or 24K miles and the same with coolant.

*edit
also if you live in climates that get snow or high humidity, you should empty and clean out the gas tank every spring.
