^^^^^ i know what you mean.... BUT.... Magnaflow makes all kinds of mufflers..... they make some pretty decent stuff that's not just for musclecars.....

BUT, from their cat, they don't make anything for the FC... so i GUESS he's talklin about a generic muffler....

Dunno man, BUT... I do know that ANY straight through muffler is going to give that rotary drone on the highway..... a lot of guys are using the borla xr-1 to calm it down.

well, i work at magnaflow, and here is my na S5 fc with a custom built exhaust. i didn't dyno it, but the butt dyno says its significantly faster.

its loud, but it sounds good. its really deep sounding, no annoying high pitched buzz whatsoever. i am using 2 6" round mufflers, 2.5" piping that splits into 2.25". i plan to add a resonator in the future to quiet it down a bit. its louder in the car than outside, because the cabin resonates around 3k rpm. its weird, it gets quieter at higher rpms.

I ran a single 3inch, with a MagnaFlow race muffler. Its 3 inch straight through. My **** is loud. Which also brought about my 2nd problem: Melting my rear bumper on that side from flames.

I've got a racing beat header, presilencer, and 2.5" pipe to a 7" (2.5" in/out) magnaflow. It's not quiet by any means, but it's not tinny or buzzy. (on '86 n/a)

I just bought both these 4 inch units to build my complete SS 4 inch turbo back. I used 1 4' oval and on the back I am using 1 4' round for the can. If you tap on the side of these exhaust's they are soild as a rock. No flimsy cheap crap. i will post pics when I get my bends for the downpipe and it on the car. These magnaflows are straight through with no restriction.
