MAF Quikie

I was poking around my engine compartment like a Gorilla, and tried the wrong way to unplug the MAF. Thinking I might have broken something, I opened it up and found this:

There is a broken solder joint on the 4th pin, and what looks like a very similar joint on the 5th. It's possible they were supposed to be connected, and I ripped them out like a ham fisted ape, but it's also possible that it's just a bad solder joint.

I found some schematics online and tested everything per the schematics, and it all tests out. I'm thinking maybe it was rebuilt at some point, the plug and board didn't originally go together, and the 5th pin has the same sort of "safety" connection as the 4th, it's just missing the board side. I just want to be sure that what I found wasn't for some other year or something. Has anyone been inside one of these that might

Anyone know what they're looking at and have any advice?

I have no direct experience with the S4 MAF (S5 is completely different) BUT I'll relate a story from the Z build...

The 280 has a MAF that is superficially identical to yours, my first thought when seeing it was that it was the exact same unit.
Ours passed the tests in the manual but we opened it up anyway and found pretty much just what you did, it looked like someone had screwed around in there.
So we got another (used) MAF.

Which was exactly the same.

Our covers were glued on, not meant to be opened...is yours?

The second unit checked out according to the manual as well, we concluded they had both been completely stock/unmolested and the inside looked homemade on purpose.

It had some sealant of some sort that I'll need to replace, yes. My guess is that it was a rebuilt unit, and the plug and board came from different units. Felix left (I have a soldering iron, but his is much nicer/cleaner), so I'll resolder the part that looks bad when he gets back.

Meanwhile, topped off tranny fluid (I must have had it at more of an angle than I thought the first time), drained the coolant, broke a belt tensioning bolt, and removed the belts. Nothing between the AC condenser and the radiator, though there are some leaves and things jammed in each to some degree. Couldn't get the fan shroud out without more disassembly than I'm willing to undertake today, so just leaving it at that for now. Headed out for goodies to finish the mechanical side of the job. The coolant came out looking surprisingly clean and happy. Maybe the PO knew enough to flush it when he got it out of storage... Cool deal!
