machine stock flywheel?

would it be safe machining a few pounds off your stock flywheel say like.... 5 -6 lbs? if so where could you get it done at? thanks

Hmmm . . I have thought about this. The problem would be the counterweight that is cast into it. I guess you could get a shop to turn the front face on a lathe. I think the stock flywheels are cast iron which may not work in a thin flywheel like steel or aluminum, but you could always take it to a machine shop and ask them if they could do it.
