LSD Questions
A while ago I got an LSD off an 87 T2 and the diff is in perfect working condition, however to mount it onto an 89 S5 I know I have to get T2 halfshalft and my driveshaft modified. However I bought an 87 N/A parts car still havent even started taking part off of it, but I heard they came stock with LSD's is that true? And is it a direct bolt on to an S5? I will probably go start taking parts off the car tomm...Parts will be for sale soon...
If the 87 N/A does have LSD, yes, it would be a direct swap, diff for diff. Check to sure it's a LSD. I'm not sure without looking at the thread at the top of 2nd gen section.
If the 87 is a GXL, then it had an LSD. If it was a base model (4 lug bolt pattern) then it didn't come stock with an LSD. That doesn't mean a previous owner didn't swap one in however.
Easiest way to check, jack the back end up on the 87 and spin a tire. The other tire should spin in the same direction.
