Okay so i own an 86' GXL now I know that these things came stock with an LSD rear but at second glance i saw that it had junk yard invintory numbers writen on it and no LSD tag off the back. Could the tag have fallen off? Is there any way to verify that its LSD w/ the numbers printed on it?

Jack the car up so both rear wheels are off the ground.

Make sure the car is in N

Rotate one tire... If the opposite tire spins in the SAME direction.. you have a LSD.

If your tire spins the OPPOSITE way... you have an open differential (teh sucky kind).

 

better way to do it is jack up one rear wheel and try to turn it, if it spins easily then you have no lsd. if its hard and then easier then you have lsd.

we have easy way to check, easier way to check, now we have easiest!

Put one side of the car in gravel off the side of the road and one side on dry gravel free pavement... Spin the tires... if the gravel side spins easy and you dont really take off, you have my pos diff! If your tire on the pavement lurches you forward after a short spinning of the gravel tire, you have an LSD like my buddy's GTUs!
