lowering suspension
alright, whatever. i don't know anything at all about fabrication. even though i do quality control on fabrication. i also know nothing about material, even though i do PMI. finally, i have no common sense to tell me that modifying a suspension part when you can get a complete replacement for less than a weeks worth of pay is a bad idea. i am not even going to say anything else on this. i am tired of having this conversation with people. i hear some of the stupidest **** here some times. do what you want with your car. i will do it right.
as the number of active coils decreases, spring rate increases

I certainly never said it was a good idea. Just because you might know something about materials, fabrication, quality control, etc, doesn't mean you know jack about springs, but that doesn't mean that you don't know about the other stuff.

DONT CUT THE SPRINGS, JUST GET SOME DECENT AFTERMARKET SPRINGS THEN SAVE UP AND GET COILOVERS.

wow... if you want to lower your car just let some air out of the tires.... or maybe put some sand bags in the engine bay & the hatch. That will lower it for sure... How about just remove the shocks.... you don't REALLY need them anyway. Good Grief... just buy some eibachs or racing beat lowering springs & be done with it. Don't you think this has all been thought about & researched by the 2 or 3 companies that actually have parts for our cars? Don't re-invent a square wheel. Buy the round one to start with. You aren't saving any $$$$ by hacking your springs up and then having to redo it anyway - let alone replacing the damaged components that got screwed up because you thought you would save a few hundred $.

ok thanks for everyone posting but it kinda got out of control, anyways, you know those blocks you can buy that you put in the spring to jack up the spring, i was wondering if someone made something to to lower it. by the way i just put on new rear sturts so i dont want to ruin them , thank again for all the input.
You mean the clamps that tighten the coils? On an RX-7? After the discussion in this thread about how to properly modify suspensions?
