Lowering my 1991

i just got my 1991 Rx7 couple months ago, looking into getting it lowered... so there is a huge difference in price between coil overs($1000 ), and just springs($200 )... i know for hondas you can get a set of coil overs for $50, is there a big deal with lowering 1991's?, is it a lot of work?

and does anyone have a picture of a lowered 1991 Rx7... i still don't know how it looks, i mean iv seen some on "FINISHED($30,XXX" car, but i need to see some street cars to get a better perspective

I'd say get a set of wheels/tires that you might want to use and then guage how much of a drop you want from there. You're talking about sleeve coilovers. It's different type of coilover. The high end coilovers are much better in every way. Ground Control made decent sleeve coilovers but they don't compare to a nice set of Teins or something along those lines.

spend the 1200 bux and get a good set of coilovers if you're gonna go that route.

if you just want drop, get springs...

if you want the best performance for the buck + adjustible lowering, get coilovers. Well worth it if thats what you are looking for. Brand name stuff usually rebuildable down the road so there shouldnt be too much worry there.

Cheap "coil overs" like those $150 deals, are NOT COILOVERS... they just SPRINGS with a adjustible perch that fit over regular shocks.. Crap in my opinion you want to stay away from these. For how cheap they sell em, do you really think the factory that made em, took the time to measure the spring rates on each of em to make sure they are the same? probably not.

Those $50 things are spring compressors, NOT coilovers..

I wouldn't go lower then 3 3/4 inches off of the ground. It's the perfect height for my area.

just wanted to point out that ground control coilover sleeves and koni yellow shocks are about the best you can do for crx doing autocross.
now i know we are not talking about crxs doing autocross, but you can't say sleeves are not good.
oh and eple my crx has 24.99 coilover sleeves on it. got them off of egay.
they are the worst ever, but worked for what i needed at the time.

The coilover sleeves are often used in road racing and autocross. If you want a proper suspension using those you are going to be revalving shocks and that gets expensive. There are 2 other routes, actual coilovers or a aftermarket spring strut combo. I would go with the latter if you just want a drop and a sportier feel to the car. Something like eibach springs and koni or kyb agx shocks usually does the trick.

CoilOvers. You won't regret it.

Check here:
CoilOvers BCRacing

I don't use those, or know anything about it but I know the guy. I use Tein RA and i don't recommend it for street.

Some good comments on here, o0Dex0o But your better off doing a search located here, https://www.rx7club.com/search.php, If you want that broad or specific perspective that your looking for, go read on previous threads there are a lot of good ones. I myself went from lowering springs that only dropped 1.2 inches that settled. To Stance Coilovers, and i believe that was one of the best investments i made with the car, hands down.
