Low RPM ping

Anyone ever heard of a ping at low revs?

Here is the deal, I was getting one or two solid pings at 10 PSI right around 3500-4000.

I just did the reground, and it seems to have disappeared. Anyone ever heard of this?

Yup. My '89TII did it a couple of times during normal acceleration from a stop. Bad BAC.

Too much air entering intake....Lean. It took KD Rotary to find the problem.

Wow! Did you even see the lean spot on the AFR gauge?

Rat-Let me explain- I was in a hurry to leave work during last post. The engine was installed by KD last Aug.('02) 5,500 miles on same. Just accelerating normally, in second, the engine detonated at 2 different times, (Sept '03) plus it had a lumpy and high idle. I took it to KD. Dave looked at it and said the BAC was bad, plus the TPS was "all over the place. Sometimes lights on sometimes off." This weekend I reset the TPS narrow @ .97 wide was .65. Sounds good. Went to replace the BAC with one I purchased a month ago, but inner seal was destroyed. Need to get another one. Cleaned mine and put it back on. Took car out tonight and it detonated in 3rd under 3/4 throttle. After I got home I checked the TPS and volts right on, no problem, but if you use the lights, both light, a problem. I have another TPS which I'll install later this week. So bottom line, with TPS out of whack, and BAC not functioning properly, yes detonation did occur under light throttle and boost.

Mine was under heavy throttle and happened at the exact same time.

But no matter, I am checking the TPS and BAC anyways.

Thanks for the info!!

@#$% Did it again today. Good thing I got the rebuild video on the way. This thing isnt going to last much longer.

Gonna swap to new BUR9EQs all the way around. Then I am going to order some greddy 720s.

Somethings got to give here.

I stand corrected, my low speed ping was from the TPS, not the BAC.

Check your timing. Are you turbo? run higher octane. Check for intake leaks.
