Exclamation Low fuel mileage HELP!!!

I have just gotten this RX-7 rather recently on ebay, and the car had some minor problems, the worst of which being a bad TPS. The car sat for nearly 4 years before I aquired it from the previous owner so god only knows what happened in the engine in that time.

With the bad TPS I got about 8-10 mpg and now with the new one I get only about 12 mpg. The dealership took a look at it and read the computer and engine compression (hey, new car, I might as well spend the $100 for a comp. test) and they said that I had low compression.

The engine right now is fairly weak, feeling boggy when accellerating hard from 0-60 and after that it feels like it gets leaned out. I need a new fuel filter and fuel pump strainer, which will be fixed this weekend, but I want to know if there is any idea of why this bad mpg is happening.

Thanks for any help!

I think you already answered your own question.

Also make sure the O2 sensor is connected (it might be worth getting a new one, they're not very expensive).

Do you have a TII? If you do they only get 12 MPG from the factory. Just thought I'd tell you

Crystal Lakes huh? I work on my RX7 in Lake in the Hills.

I had bad mileage attributed to a bad TPS. Not only did I get bad mileage but attempts to set it gave me bad hesitations. I would recommend getting a new(or working used) TPS.

In case you didn't already know. The TPS is different from a s4 than a s5.

I just put in a good used TPS in the car about 2 weeks ago, which eliminated alot of the hesitation, but it is still slow. I think that YellowT2 was on the mark with the low comp. being the culprate. This being the case, I think that the engine is getting pulled this summer and made a full out race engine for the street. I was thinking 3mm ceramic apex seals, street porting on the aux ports, and so on and so forth until the end of time, or money, whichever comes first.
