Low end torque

I've been thinking about gutting the cats and removing all the emmissions crap from my 87 NA. I also have a 97 Civic and after I opened up the exhaust and the intake I lost all torque under 3000 rpm. Is the same thing going to happen to my 7?

Civic-Tq

RX-7-Tq hmmm a little

lol

Anyhow it depends on what exhaust you get. The true duals I have are made for the whole range so you actually gain Tq down low and HP up high. GOOD and GOOD .

Removing the cats should give power high and low, because its a restriction is airflow not restriction in diameter. A header will give power all over aswell. I dont think you will lose alot if any at all by adding an exhaust system.

If your exhaust is properly sized, then you shouldn't lose much torque. As mentioned, the true duals is best best compromise, but don't expect to pass emissions with it and many people find it VERY loud.

Honestly, you don't have much below 3000 anyway, so I wouldn't worry. Just make sure your 5th and 6th ports continue to operate after you switch your exhaust.

Just to put more input on the uncollected(true duals) exhaust there are video and sound clips around on the net now that show a good example of what they sound like. All the people I have shown the links to them have liked them. YOu have to listen to them in person though its sooo good IMO

If you want to go fast and win races, you're going to have to not worry about the low-end. You dont race down there, you race above atleast 4K, so if you want to go mad fast you need to work on your top-end.

But having some low-end is nice for around the town driving, it just depends on what you want your car to be.
