Lots of Problems
Lots of Problems
I bought an '87 rx7 and ever since, I've been having a ton of problems despite it having only the original 67,000 miles on it. The emergency brake warning light won't go off, the add coolant light won't o off, and neither will the buzzer connected to the light. I know I have enough coolant because I just filled it up the other day, so I'm starting to think that it's an electrical problem. Also, the exhaust system is completely rusted out, and the brake pads are worn out. If anyone has any advice, please post.
Well you may wish to use the search function found in the upper righthand corner of the page as every single thing you posted about has been answered mutiple times here.
But regardless of that.
The brake light is probably on, because of low brake fluid. The light indicates low brake fluid or that the handle is up.
Where did you put the coolant??? In the overflow tank??? The coolant level is for the radiator. If you are low on coolant in the radiator (not the overflow tank) you will get the buzzer and light. Also you may need to bleed the system out... if you have air bubbles in the radiator that are bigger than about 1 inch round, it will trigger the low coolant warnings.
It sounds like you should have checked the car out and didn't if you bought a car with the exhaust rusted through and still running on the original brake pads (which if the car really only has 67,000 miles, then it probably is the original brake pads). Of course changing the brake pads is a 1/2 hour per wheel job at the most... so I don't know why you are whining about that anyway... and if they are worn out, well , then that explains why you are low on brake fluid
