Everyone here will undoubtely have their own opinion regarding break-in mileage and how to properly break in a freshly rebuilt motor. Mine is minimum 1000 miles and vary the freeway speed during the break in period. Change oil after first 250 miles and then change oil every 500 miles until you hit the 1250 or 1300 mile mark. Then assume normal oil change schedules.

You should not be beating on a rebuilt engine until it has broken in. This means easy driving for at least 1000KM/Miles then gradually increasing the amount of abuse over the next few hundred KM/Miles.
If the rebuild re-used housings it can take a while for the compression to come up to spec as well.
