Loss of Power - Jerking
My RX7 runs very strong, however every once in a while it will lose power, and begin jerking violently. Similar to when you let out the clutch & don't accelerate, but the engine wont die, it'll continue to jerk until I depress the clutch & keep it pressed down. The only way I can get it back to the house is by placing in 2nd gear & slowly let off the clutch, while accelerating. This process will only allow me to go about 10 miles per hour though. Odd thing is, this only happens every other day. The car drives fine when not being possessed. Any ideas on what I should check?

sounds like my car, i think iv pinpointed my problem to my injector plugs, but make sure during your diagnosis to eliminate the possibilities of lose grounds, Water Thermo sensor failure or disconnect, or a compression check to make sure your not randomly getting seal failure.

sounds like a fuel filter to me. Especially if it only happens once in a while. It is not limp mode. It is not random seal failure. Do not check the compression. You do not need a rebuild. Nor do you need to rip the motor halfway apart. This is not a major problem that will cost $1500 to fix.
I would go in this order:
-blow out fuel filter, replace if that helps and you feel like a new fuel filter (make sure you don't have an air or fuel blockage somewhere else, too)
-Check for resistance across grounds with an ohmmeter or a multimeter
-Check TPS per shop manual
-Scan ECU for codes with a voltmeter/multimeter/ammeter per RETed's site
-Check fuel injector wires per shop manual
-Check fuel injectors

I'm now a happy camper! It turned out to be semi-clogged injectors. My mechanic asked me to run a couple of Chevron Techron Concentrate Plus twice & as a result, its working much better. Just in time for the the sunny weather too! I'm enjoying bringing the top down now! Thx for everyone's advice, zoom-zoom!
